PDO Threads

  • What are PDO threads?

PDO Threads are a non-invasive procedure designed to boost collagen production, improving skin texture for a tighter and smoother appearance. The threads are made of polydioxanone, a type of dissolvable suture material. The threads gradually dissolve around 3 months post-treatment, while collagen production can last up to 12 months, providing you with long-lasting effects.

  • How do PDO threads work?

Threads are inserted under the skin using a micro-needle. After the needle is removed, the thread remains in place. This in turn stimulates collagen and elastin production, which tightens and supports the skin and improves the structure of the face.

Treatment and Aftercare

After receiving Volume enhancement or facial contour treatments, downtime is minimal, and most individuals can resume their daily activities right away. However, depending on your skin’s sensitivity and any medications you are taking (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood thinners), you may experience temporary, minor side effects like:

  • Slight swelling at or near the injection site
  • Mild tenderness or bruising around the treatment areas
  • Mild redness at the treatment sites
  • Mild discomfort in the treated areas, which can be alleviated with over-the-counter pain medication as directed
  • Sensation of tightness or pulling in the treated area which is a normal response to the threads that should improve as the tissues adjust

Next Steps:
To account for varying results, we recommend attending a follow-up appointment two weeks post-treatment to assess your results.

  • Keep the treated area clean
  • Avoid excessive facial movement for 48 hours
  • Limit strenuous activities for 24-48 hours
  • Apply cold compresses for 24 hours
  • Don’t consume alcohol for 24 hours
  • Take pain medication if necessary such as paracetamol as directed by your health care providers
  • Attend follow-up appointments for assessment and addressing concerns.
